Boelo Schuur is Full Professor at the University of Twente, working on Sustainable Separation Technology with a focus on affinity separations such as extractive distillation, liquid-liquid extraction and adsorption.
The two main research lines include
- Develop new Separation Processes to enable new green processes
a) for valorization of bio-based chemicals, for example through biorefineries
b) to develop circular value chains, including plastics recycling and metals recycling
c) to replace existing separation processes with more benign ones
2. Develop new, breakthrough Separation Technology advances for innovation of separation routes
a) stimuli responsive separations
b) hybrid separations
The team on Separations counts on average one or two post-docs, 5-6 PhD-students, a varying number of MSc-students and visitors, and is embedded in the Sustainable Process Technology group in the Chemical Engineering Department at the Faculty of Science and Technology.
